Hi John
I managed to discover why I was getting the 401 error lastnight. It was because
I did not realise the steam browser does not support pop ups, therefore I could
not submit the username and password. Nevertheless even after typing in the
correct url all I was left with was a blank screen.
Maybe this will clean up the community abit.

I just wish people wouldn't abuse redirection - I've had some mighty good
ideas over the years, ideas such as only having ONE server show up on the
list, redirecting to multiple servers, based on either skill, or RPG-style
level, it could be such a useful tool!

This happened to someone else that I know, have you formatted within the

We've had a hard time fixing this for several reasons. First, we've never been
able to reproduce this. Second, the issue is confounded by the fact that
client crashes can often produce this. The last round of reports we got for
this problem seemed to always be muddled by client crashes --- wh

Stricter rules would be better for the community and I'm with you on the
bot player count - I still am a bit stumped how or why that practice has
gained so much momentum.
Step 1. Fake player count to lure people in
Step 2. People play on your server
Step 3. ... somehow this is good?
More players
I'm all in for more strict rules! With matchmaking now online, there's
enough players around without using a single script that fakes bots to
actual players etc whathever there are out there. No one should run that
crap anyway.

That last point would be a great one to see dealt with. I have/had a hunch

I know it doesn't cost an arm and a leg to run a TF2 server but some

Anna,
You're right about the browser. I've used it for our game Red Orchestra 2,
and I could have sworn this works in the browser for KF as well. Could you
post here what exactly you are typing for the admin commands? Can you give

Hi again
Thank you for your help and suggestions John and Steven.
I had a look at the forum that you sent me John but unfortunately when I try to
type anything in the console it just comes up with Unrecognized Command. I also

Everyone,
The Killing Floor Free Weekend is now live and will be running from now
until Sunday at 1PM PST. Additionally the Twisted Christmas event is also
on now and will be running until January 4th.
With the KF free weekend on I have a couple of requests for the server
admin community. First,
As far as I'm aware, this has been considered a feature for quite some
time. It's been brought up a lot of times, there hasn't been any real
interest in actually fixing the problem from what I've seen. Needless to
say, filtering disconnects seems to be the only real work around.

This is very common right after map change. I've seen ~20 people
dropping off with no steam logon after map has changed.

This works for me (assuming I don't have multiple admin users enabled):
Ingame, open console. Type: adminlogin {password}
That should bump you up to admin level. Note with this on, if you pick a map
during map vote it will be selected no matter what anyone else pick. Just an

Everytime I try and enter a command into the server console or remotely
connect from in game, nothing happens and no error messages come up.
It just silently fails. If someone knows how to do this I too would
like to know.
