Can you elaborate on this? Non-root users shouldnt be able to write to /proc anyway... ??? Ahh its generally considered a bad idea to have proc mounted due to the security issues its had in the past so if we could get a fallback variable that would be great.

*sigh* William, I am SOOO SORRY I ever mentioned your program on this list. I THOUGHT that other business owners like myself might want to know about a GREAT program. Instead all we get are llamas who don't know a line of code from their ass. *Shrug* OH well... that means less competition for me

I smell a superiority complex... troll! Your gamecp product is a bit of a hack at best.. a damn good hack, but a hack nonetheless. You use ssh to send commands to servers... yawn. Its not particularily innovative on the backend. On the frontend I cant say because I havent used it. Every post of you

Like I said before.. lets get some numbers before we all start being high and mighty. I can see two things, both with pros and cons: low priority: theoretically less CPU usage, less load. One server should not impact other servers as much.. downside: might introduce apparant lag as shots dont regis

RE: [hlds_linux] system priority script for linux

2004-06-16 Thread D N
Lets talk about this. From what I understand, it reduces the CPU priority of various system services, theoretically reducing CPU usage (and system load?) By doing so - are the game servers impacted in any way by this? You would think that the CPU usage would be lower, but the responsiveness would s

I don't believe it is "difficult" to do on Linux/Fedora, just have to set the kernel option and recompile. This does consume time though. In FreeBSD I just set kern.hz="200" in /boot/loader.conf, and reboot :). Also, Richy: We were considering running Fedora 2, and 64bit, but turned away due to the
