Not any default version of AMX I have ever run. And I have run pretty
much all of them. Now, installing 300 some odd plugins or misconfiguring
it then sure.

Try updating to AMXX version 1.0 with new binaries. I tried 0.20 a while ago
and it was
definitley to laggy with more than 16 players on the server.
Other helpful commands to lower bandwith on clientside:
sv_maxrate 7500
sv_maxupdaterate 35
Just try.

I'd also like to point out that latency goes up quite rapidly when you
approach the maximum transfer for a circuit (e.g. even if

hmm, I don't know the upstream exactly, but I thought 4-6 kb per client
is enough of upstream. (If the netstat window o

I have a problem with my public HLDS Linux server.
Until the server reaches 15 players, the ping is fine (~20 ms).
But if there are 15 or more players on my server, the ping goes up to
~100 ms.
The internet connection is a good one, linux kernel is 2.6.9,
Pentium 4 1,7ghz, 512Mb Ram

Yes, I agree with your assessment, especially when you consider that
little SOHO, unmanaged switches are cheap
Daniel Stroven wrote:
The biggest issue on LAN is connecting directly to the switch, instead of
allowing users to use hubs. Hubs can cause all sorts of problems, and raise
latency. So you can shave another 10ms or so off connecting directly to a
switch and dropping any hubs.
Probably not worth it
