No I didn't upload them to the sv_downloadurl place. I was thinking
that perhaps they are generated / altered on the server itself?

will attempt to download the file to the client from the sv_downloadurl
but will not default back to downloading from itself if it cannot find

On first connect to the custom map the client downloads the BSP file and the ain
On the second connect they download the ain file only
On third connect nothing is downloaded ever again.

Thanks for that. And I'm not sure I'm any more enlightened but...
An AIN file is a nodegraph; it can either be automatically generated
or made from info_nodes placed by hand in the level.
