Well to be honest the professor was a butthole, and some of us were glad to
see him retire. But you know even I laugh at some of the things I've done in my
practicing and my performances because I have a sense of humor about it.
Granted what he did with the tape wasn't ethical, but well even som
Gotta tell ya, it seems like very cruel humor. If the person who did the
recital was that particular professor's student, that says very little about
his professionalism as an educator or effectiveness as a teacher. To make
fun of someone like that just doesn't strike me as cool. How would you feel

Hey, someone has to be the fall guy, and a lot of times it's Michael Bolton
in these parts. Second is Kenny G, third is probably that Dino guy (the

Also my remark earlier about Michael Bolton was all in fun. But of course

Our music faculty has an "entertainment" recording, but the sad thing is it's
a really bad trumpet recital. Just to show you how much our former trumpet
professor thought of it, at an International Trumpet workshop (or it could've
been national) he played this tape at a banquet with all these pr
Not quite, I just go to a small school with a good sense of humor. When all
the freshman are in the music lab fretting over their Species counterpoint
assignments while I'm checking my email, I put on some Sleazy Tenor Arias sung
by Michael bolton.
What can I say? We like to ROCK!

Since this CD is for the music department, the implication is that you are not only
professionally involved with music, but that you are entrusted with the responsibility
of teaching music. Do you consider your level of professionalism on the level of
Michael Bolton, or are you more on the leve

Speaking of Tuckwell, I received a kind of weird gift this summer. It was a
CD called George Shearing and Barry Tuckwell Play the Music of Cole Porter.
It seems like it couldn't possibly be good, so I leave it on hold for a couple
of months, never listening to a note of it. Well, about a mont
Hello,
I would like to pose a question (for everyone). I've been working on low
attacks (loud and staccato, legato and slurred, mezzo forte and staccato, legato
and slurred, etc) and I have found a few shortcomings. Whether it may be my
break, or just not enough work in that area (or both!) I
Professor Pizka,
I had a chance to take a horn lecture of Arcady in Moscow,

to finacial problems. I bought his CD and love listening to
it. I have been trying to perfect the duo-tone sound,
playing one note while humming in the horn another
That's great news regarding Richardcongratulations!
If you are currently on the list, Richard, when will you be assuming your
new duties? Will you be vacating your current position as principal of the

Hello List,
I have my eye on a horn in Ebay (Yamaha Model 576D). However, the seller is only
prepared to let the horn go to residents in the States. He said that he couldn't be
bothered with customs etc. As I live in the UK, I am asking if anyone on the list
would be able to receive the horn on
On the Michael Bolton thread, whatever you may think of the man himself, he does hire
excellent backing musicians, namely Jeff Nelson, now of the Canadian Brass.
