Hi,
There was also a player between Dave Everson
and Liz Freimuth. I believe Dave left for Detroit
on a one year leave from KC and they had a
player for that year maybe Tom Jostlein??
Pete ... do you remember the player's name?
Of course, Dave became a permanent member
at Detroit. Tha

Sorry, but this isn't correct. You missed David Reiswig, who was
principal during the 80's. If I'm not mistaken

I should be graduating soon and I am doing my exhaustive search for grad
schools. One place I'd really like to apply to is Julliard and was going to ask
Julie Landsman a few questions by email since she teaches there. However, after
a searching around I couldn't find her email address. Does anyo
If I was making a ton of money recorking H&B mutes I don't think I'd have given
away any information! Besides, do this for yourself once and you'll likely pay
me next time you need it done. :)

Now Dave, how are you going to make any money if you give away your repair

directions for us regular folk to keep our equipment maintained. Keep up the
good work.

Ok, here's how to replace those Humes and Berg corks.
Go to an auto parts store and buy two sheets of gasket material, one 1/8"
thickness and the other 1/16" thickness. The material is made of a mix of
natural cork and natural rubber. You will also need contact cement such as

I have played with many fine mutes, but I have found the Balu mute to be the
most satisfactory. Trumcor and John Kowalchuk, as well as Steve Lewis, also
make fine mutes. They are more expensive than the Wick or Humes and Berg,
but will give you far better results.
Just my 25 cents (things are goi

I Have a threnody in my library for horn and piano by Dan Plonsey
When I performed it around 1986, I copied it out a step lower than he wrote
it, because it's endless, as I remember it.

Hi (again)
While I'm at it (I normally just lurk).
I was at a live concert a couple of weeks ago when the Swedish Chamber
orchestra (our local band!) played Mozart's "little" g-minor symphony (No 25 -
K183 I think).
I recall some discussion of this symphony on the list a while ago. The

Hi
I bought a Dennis Wick aluminium straight mute a while back.
It works fine in the higher register but around and below middle-C ( F horn
notation ) it stops sounding like a mute and just gives an unsatisfactory
muffled sound with poor intonation.
My old Humes and Berg was fine but the corks fe

Does anyone know where I could buy or rent the orchestra parts to the Kuhlau
Concertino for two horns in F. I've looked online, and so far I've found
nothing. Thanks for the help!
