Thanks to Ben Reidhead and Klaus Bjerre for explaining the horn. I was pretty
sure that's what it was but the lengths didn't look right to me at first glance
and thanks to Klaus I now I have a math headache.
I have not found any biographical information on Eric Hauser, yet. I have a

Any idea of the maker of Eric Hauser's horn? Looks to me like a King, based
on an instrument that my first teacher played, but I am not certain.

Some have thought the 3rd slide is the correct 3 half step length. However,
maybe it's 4 half steps--major third. This would give the dedicated
finger-wiggling Bb hornist many options...

I know I've seen a horn wrapped just like this one in an old Kruspe catalog
but I don't have the photo. It's a single Bb horn. From the top it's
(normal) 1st, 2nd, 3rd valves. The 3rd slide wraps upward to make room for
the 4th slide which is an F extension. That's a seriously old horn

Walter wasn't the only person, but I don't know of how
Try Chuck Ward.
Chuck used to work for Conn and was one of their designers.
I am sure if anyone can make the change, he can. He also does great valve re
