Several different horn players were used on these recordings. For number 51
that Dan mentions, the British players Ifor James and Anthony Randall were
employed.
Max Gobermann's account of the Maria Theresia (no.48) with Gabler on first
horn is truly amazing ! . I recently purchased the Austro-Hu

Tuckwell included this piece on his second recording of the Strauss
concertos (Decca 430 370 -2), and the excellent German soloist Marie Luise
Neunecker
has also recorded it.These are the two in my collection - there might be more.

have inadvertently been transposed up instead of down for F horn.Just play it
an
octave lower. Can't think offhand of any instance of Mozart writing for horns
in C alto !

The whole of the Coronation Mass is in C basso, and the highest note for the
1st horn is G above the staff. This means you don't have to play higher than
4th line D.The piece presents no real problems - the 2nd horn part is probably
more difficult as it jumps around a lot.

The Wagnertubas are in addition to the 4 horns - not only in the second
movement, but also in the finale. They are of course played by horn players !
