You should check out the Kanstul Copper-belled flugel if you want a "Horn-like" sound. A buddy in my quintet has one and it's too Horn-like to play along with the other guy when they need to double. OTOH, it's a *great* instrument when the line should be a pair of Horns - hard to do that in a

I recently bought a Paxman mouthpiece. After playing 2 weeks on it, I think Is this a PHC mouthpiece? If so, they make an Acetal rim - hypoallergenic. I've played on one for years. You can order one from Wichita Band Instruments if you're in the US or Paxman directly if elsewhere.
