Our mouthpiece shanks are
milled to fit .625" into our lead-pipe. If your mouthpiece is
going in more
than .5" you may be beyond the venturi.
I finally got around to measuring the venturi on my three horns, which
are not necessarily a meaningful sample.

I just wanted to set the record straight:
Most valve oil is mostly kerosene (aka lamp oil, aka paraffin in the UK)
Lighter fluid is naptha, a known minor carcinogen, and much more
volatile.
