Mr. Kaoru Chiba, the long time First Horn of
the NHK Symphony Orchestra, passed away on
21 June in Tokyo. He was 80.
Mr. Chiba was one of the very few students of
late Dennis Brain, taking lessons from him
during the latter's final months in 1956-57.
Throughout the second half of
Since Hans is on the move in NE Thailand with his family
now, it could take a while to hear from him directly on
this matter.
This is just my impression (I cannot possibly speak on
his behalf), but I think what Hans preaches perfectly

Ladies and Gentlemen,
At last!!
The 1968 recording of Mahler 9 by Otto Klemperer conducting
the Vienna Philharmonic has been released by Testament label
(SBT8 1365).
My absolute dream came true. Now I have one less worry before
I die. I hope many listers will have a chance to listen to it.
