If you play this passage on 1st valve, you are actually playing an e-flat horn and - as you realized exactly - partials 8 - 9- 10 - 9 - 8 The other way, when you "valved" the same few notes, you probably valved them as 1 - 0 - 1 - 0 - 1. The cause for the clam might be here the written d2 fingere
