I will second what Jerry, Loren and Dave has said. I have had my Finke Americus
for one year, and have had no problems (so far) with the valves, linkages or
anything else. In fact, in the process of cleaning it, I have had all the
valves out at the same time, something I would have never, neve
Then our work is done. Now to find a more appealing target.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the heads up. I wonder if the type
of oil makes a difference ... petroleum, silicone
or ??? based oils??

I was reffering to the new material, not the old plastic ones. The
poly-carbon valves expand with heat and shrink with cold as to keep a tight seal.
But the issue off cleaning them remains the same. I think oiling these valves
will begin to dissolve the material? I just remeberJohane
Note that Johannes Finke and some new Finke horns are visiting in the

that has solved the problems of the old plastic

the old leaky rotors replaced with the new material
and, if they are anything like the new horns I've

With the advantages of the Finke brand come the disadvantages. The material the
valves are made out of do not need oil to work. This means that calcuim and other
particles that build up inside your horn will mean constant cleaning for these fickle
valves.

Hi Sandra.
Too bad you were not able to attend the IHS Symposium at K-Zoo in 2001. I

the vendor rooms. I really liked it. By the way
