I was happy to hear that the Iraqi Symphony was playing again.
I was in Baghdad on tour with a jazz group in the middle 60's and was invited
to play with the orchestra while I was there.
There were quite a few European players in the orchestra then.
I was suprised at how well the orchestra played
There is an article in this week's _Time_ magazine about this very event.

Here from Germany, we had some contacts with the members & the orchestra
as a body, but as far as I know, some colleagues from Seattle went there
& got also contact with the musicians. This was before the 2nd Iraq War.
Interesting might be, that the even played a program with Mendelssohns
