Atbsolutely. That way, you hold the horn so the mouthpiece reaches your mouth -- instead of scrunching about so that your mouth has to reach the mouthpiece. It's much more comfortable playing that way -- if you remember to do it. The habit of resting the bell rim on your leg while playing in
