[HOT] Has anyone got a tutorial / document that shows why highways should be joined up?

Ideally in French. I have a mapper I'm validating who is quite good but leaves tiny gaps between sections of highways, and settlements will have two highways leading up to them but they aren't connected. I'm leaving feedback but I don't seem to be getting the message through. Thanks John ___
