Jaakko and all,
From the conversations I have with potential candidates off-line and the
obvious slow progress in nominations; I can tell that we all are taking
serious consideration of the effort and responsibility these positions may
entail during this crucial time in HOT's development.
Hi Cat
Thanks for getting involved and the positive thoughts! Great to increase
connections with DHN too.
Just wanted to clarify, there's different notions of membership in HOT. In
our Bylaws, we have Voting Members, who go through a nomination process, and
have certain defined rights, among
Hi all,
This is just a friendly nudge, reminder and encouragement to all
considering running for the board or the Chair to step up for the
nomination. As things are we have the announcement of Heather that she's
available and would like to continue to serve on the board (but no
nomination on the

Hi Russell,
Thanks for pointing out these unclear aspects in the bylaws, would be good
to modify them so that there is no confusion. For the number of board
seats, either there is a gold number and then it should be written, or we
prefer to have a range and in this case, it should be mentioned

Yes, definitely, one of the top priorities for this year will be to address the
gaps in the bylaws, to clarify and make them more in line for the kind of
organization we
Mikel, we had previously been working here:
https://hackpad.com/HOT-Bylaws-Amendments-D5EU34qgHYu - lots of good stuff
on these topics that was consolidated from all our other google docs, etc.
If you'd like help moving everything to the wiki, we can do that; but it may
be easier to continue
We definitely need to make this all work together. Various smaller and
larger issues need to be adjusted in the bylaws. Code needs to be referred
to in them (IMO). And we can't just tackle one thing at a time.
I don't mind which the place is (wiki or Hackpad). Hackpad is more
conversational but
Thanks Jaakko. I had forgotten about that hackpad. Given that it contains a lot
of other comments besides bylaws issues, can we move the relevant pieces into
the wiki? https://hackpad.com/HOT-Bylaws-Amendments-D5EU34qgHYu

Hmm, yup, I had forgotten about it specifically. I'm really ok with either, as
long as we can keep it focused and structured.

Just a few questions/clarifications,
In article 4.2 of the bylaws, it states The regular Board shall consist of
an odd number of directors of no fewer than three (3) nor more than nine (9)
directors.; so unless I'm missing an amendment or something agreed upon at
a meeting, then there are up to 9
Russ
The Board determines the number of seats within those limits. We've had 7 board
seats since the beginning, and this has been a workable sized board for us.
No limitation on nominations to board. Unlike membership, there can only be 7
board members.
Mikel
Thanks for that clarification.

Hi All,
I put in a sample record for the nominations(1). I didn't want fear of
wiki syntax to get in anyone's way. If you have an issues just let us
know and we can help.

HI Jaakko and HOT Friends,
I've written some thoughts about my first year on the HOT Board. Truly, I
want to return and keep helping us grow (If you so elect it to be).
As well, I think this is an important time to consider what does HOT need
from a Board. I've written some thoughts here:
Dear voting members and the community at large,
Nominations for HOT Chair of the voting members and the Board are now open
