Shane,
I am referring to the *recommandation* to not fill a pageds more than 25%.
AFAIR this recommandation dates from the 3380 era.
My question is, is this ROT still correct for large 3390-09 pageds (and was
it still correct for 3390-03).
If I replace a couple of (25%) filled 3390-03 pageds's
Hi Peter,
well the idea was like
Slot (n) is used (x'012345678') owned by "ISV1"
Slot (n) is used (x'012345678') owned by "ISV2"
Slot (n) is used (x'012345678') owned by "Unknown ISV"
Of course omit lines with unused slots. I just would like to limit the number
of lines
with "Unknown ISV".

will get right on it.

You need to be careful & do this one at a time; because it copies data
to cache and then to stacked volume. Your cache residency time will go
down.

Hey,
If you record the VOLSER of all those 3480 they can be put back into the
CA-DISK system after the conversion is done. There is a CA-DISK utility
available to perform that function. But it must be done after the conversion
is complete so you do not reprocess the 3480's again.

Neal
Hi Lieven,
I went through this with CA-DISK 9.02 last year. Because the product tracks
the internal datasets on that volume, you must use the products utilities to
perform the copy. The merge function can be set up to output to just about
any tape configuration. By using the merge function, you en

Hi Roland,
unfortunatly no chance :-(
AFAIK there is no public repository (There may be an internal vendors-only one).
But good vendor code uses eye catchers.
May be you could print the first 16/32 byte

Sorry Kees, you lost me.
If (as recommended) all the page datasets are the same size, and the
occupancy is n%, why does the question arise ???.
ASM will (presumably) balance the allocation given similar response from the

Lieven,
why don't you just use the Merge procedure? This will also consolidate the
data efficiently to fully utilize the new tapes.

Hello,
The recommandation was (possibly still is) not to fill a pageds for more
than 25%, to allow ASM's contiguous slot algorithme to always find enough
contiguous free slots. Does this recommandation also apply to pageds on
3390-09 models?
I suppose the 25% figure statistically gave ASM a good
Folks,
I need some help with an older version of CA-DISK 9.0.2.
The client needs to convert some old 3480 CA-DISK backups to some higher
capacity media.
They want to keep the CA-DISK environment.
For the moment I see 2 options.
1) use XCOPY to copy all backup tape volumes onto higher capacity
