When we got our Z/10 bc installed this week, I and the CE were reviewing the
diagrams on how to hook up the Lans for the HMC. The diagrams show both
connections connected to switches that are then connected to customer
switches. There was no separation of Lans into private and customer. The

This is Harold,
Actually I did not write it, I just made a few corrections.
And I'm glad you took it and improved it even more.
I would suggest that you submit the update to www.cbttape.org so that others
could similarly benefit from your enhancements.

Anyone know of any program that I could issue an operator display type command
and receive back the response?
Something like a vtam programmed operator but for system commands.

I don't know if this directly applies, but I was doing some cleanup on our

Is there any easy display or little rexx code to extract what MSU value an
LPAR is set to as far as Defined Capacity. WLM seems to know. So does RMF
supposedly.
I want to pick up the value and do a little health checking of my own.
we have no problems, view 11.0 z/os 1.7 as of Jan 14
and we migrated first to view 11.0 under z/os 1.4 then a month later to z/os
1.7
we also tested all of this on our sand box system before migrating to
production.

Uh, could you (or any one else) expound on this?,
usually IBM tends to rename the sys1 files, moves them to other volsers,
changes sizes of files which tend to force file to different volsers. etc.
And in our case, (just getting ready to install 1.7 into production) we went
from mod3 to mod
We have a performance problem I am trying to improve.
When we do our Disaster recovery tests we wind up do a large amount of
delete noscratch against our user catalogs. We basically uncatalog all of
our disk datasets leaving just the tape datasets in the catalogs. The
catalogs are restored
we use the ROOM parm to contain a deliverly location for print out. And we
have been using for years the ROOM program from the CBT tape, file 325
that updates the ROOM value for a TSO user.
Well it's time for us to upgrade to z/OS 1.7 and I'd rather not go through

We are thinking of putting our TSM backup system on an IFL running z/Linux

Anybody out there doing this? We'd like to hear you comments and

We too are going to get a z/9 BC (YEAH), and are going to use the integrated
console feature. We have 10 terminals across 3 lpars, but mostly on 1 lpar.
And of course the dumb terminals will have to be replaced with a pc using a
terminal emulator.
Questions;
In your shop are these PCs dedicated
to find the cobol statement, but this won't tell you what was the
source for register 3.

I would imagine that there are sample programs and JCL in the SAMPLIB
dataset for C++, Usually there are a few IVP jobs IBM has you run after
installing things to make sure everything is ok.
Oh, it's hard to debug a link time problem if you only show us the program
source. Some link jcl would
IDMS does not require DATA(24), although for years they shipped required
link time modules as AMODE 24 RMODE 24 and you had to override the linkage
editor. We got around it my fixing the module inhouse. I think the name
is IDMSCANC. They may also have some old subroutine that is AMODE 24 which
re you asking what characters print on the printer?
If so it depends on the print band you have in the printer
One way would be to take off the print band and look at it
generally the upper case letters and numbers are repeated multiple times
but the special characters may only be on the band 1 or
24 matches
