SyncSort for z/OS R1.2 can be installed using SMP/E or not. Your choice. SyncSort even provides an ISPF front-end to the installation process (which I do not use, went straight to the manual SMP/E install). The SMP/E process, as provided, will allow you to build a new SMP CSI for your global,

-SNIPED to get by the censors Bill, Of course you are correct. My experience is that that there may be some differences in ICETOOL that may bite you in the conversion. Way back when I did a benchmark between the two and DFSORT won but by a small point or two. The difference that I

I am using the old subject line for a slightly different topic - Are there any SYNCSORT parameters that are NOT supported by DFSORT on an internal sort invoked from a program? I've read about the MAXSORT differences but this is not an API option. Thanks! -Victor- Someone in another local

I've read about the MAXSORT differences but this is not an API option. ... It's been a long time since I've used either version. But, I believe you can specify almost any (if not all) SYNCSORT options in the DD $ORTPARM even for in-programme calls. -teD In God we Trust! All others bring data!

You can specify all of the DFSORT options in the DFSPARM DD or $ORTPARM DD for both direct and program invocations of DFSORT. ... I thought so in the back, of what I laughingly call, my mind. But, it has been aeons since I used SORT other than with SAS, and had to use $ORTPARM. -teD In God

Frank, Thanks a lot for responding. Let me rephrase the question - While migrating off SYNCSORT to DFSORT in a shop that heavily uses internal sort calls from Cobol, Assembler and [possibly] PL/I, what would be the guesstimated changes, if any, to the source code? I am not talking about the JCL

Victor, You don't state what type of internal SORT you are using, but if using COBOL, the following referenced (and pointed to pages) MIGHT be useful (for DFSort). http://publibz.boulder.ibm.com/cgi-bin/bookmgr_OS390/BOOKS/igy3pg30/1.12.15. 1 Victor Gil [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote in message
