If NOTEPAD, there is an option called WORD WRAP, which you can turn off.

I have encountered this condition and was unable to get it resolved (didn't
invest much time - had a circumvention). So, I end up suggesting WORDPAD to
open the file, then save it, and after than NotePad works fine. Sorry I

Try renaming the file on the PC to xxx.TXT
