A few random bits of advance re: Oracle on zSeries/z9:
1. Arguably the best version of Oracle is the 64-bit 10g for Linux on
zSeries. I would check out that version, particularly. I have not heard
too many kind words about Oracle's z/OS version.
2. In most cases IFLs will be the most

Can anyone give me a information about performance of Oracle 9i on Z/OS
v1r4 and Oracle 9i on Z/VM SuSe Linix 9 on IFL Proccesor?
I can't answer your specific question, but remember than an IFL is the same

Hi!
We are planning to migrate Oracle 8.1.7 applications on Windows 2000 Cluster
platform to IBM Z/800 platform
Can anyone give me a information about performance of Oracle 9i on Z/OS v1r4
and Oracle 9i on Z/VM SuSe Linix 9 on IFL Proccesor?
Is better Oracle 9i on Z/OS v1r4 or Oracle 9i on Z/VM
You may want to take a look at IBM's SIZE390
IBM offers a sizing service called SIZE390. SIZE390 takes
your current hardware/software/utilization and returns
an estimate for an IBM hardware/software equivalent.
Earlier this year my shop investigated migration scenarios
for our production Oracle

remember than an IFL is the
same as a regular CP (processor) except that it is disabled so that you
can't IPL z/OS on it. So any performance numbers you can find for
Oracle on a z/800 will apply.
...
Not exactly true.
z/AAPs, IFLs and (I believe for these two, as well) SAPs CFs.
