Good morning!
The Connect Direct set of cards below will compress the file during transfer to
the destination and then extract the file at the destination.

So, for various reasons, mostly for ease of management, we have maintained a
single volume sysres. Today they are non-sms mod-54’s. But alas, based on our
product mix, I am close to exceeding the capacity of a -54.I am looking to
move to EAV volumes, which z/OS supports, and my storage tea
How about allocating 'filler' data sets to fill up the empty space below
the EAS on the EAV? We did this once to force allocation in the EAS, but we
were not allocating ZFS files up there.

Actually, I just did a DFDSS logicial copy, and looks like there are smarts
built-in….My cloning process first copies all non-ZFS data, and then copies all
ZFS data after that. Looks like all the VSAM files landed in EAS space by
default even though EATTR isn’t specified on the datasets, and t

I have a program that does an EXEC CICS LINK to another program that issues
EXEC CICS ABEND.
CICS then generates a 4088/0063
I notice that the R12 in the program issuing the abend is a CAA, but it is
different than the CAA pointed to out of the TCA. Does EXEC CICS
What are you trying to accomplish by not de-compressing the file on
the receiving system?

Sounds like you don't have PH24895 applied. The program issued abend
causes syncpoint rollback, which then drives the TRUE exits that are
registered for sync. LE is getting the TRUE RSA instead of for the last
EXEC CICS call. Fixed by PH24985.

Yes. You can either run compression in a run task, and then send
the resulting file to the target system, OR you can compress it
via a z/OS job and then have C:D pick up the resulting file and
send it.
The receiving site, if they are going to use it, must know what
you used for compression.
Well, NVIDEA reported earnings tonight and the growth was off the charts.
Growth never seen before. And no evidence of slowing down. Actually
accelerating. So much for the deniers.

All major relational databases support variable length data load (incl.
DB2) . This is not a problem at all.
