Jerry,
Your system is out of service. That means you won't be able to get *for
free* any PTFs released after EOS date. That means your system may not
recognize z14 correctly. It does NOT mean it
What DDDEF query can help user to find source for USS10MSG?
Excuse me, but there are very few VTAM libraries in the system (and many
elements in shared libraries).
A source of USS10MSG or any other thing may be found in one of VTAM
libraries, in a SAMPLIB or maybe other library I'm not aware

I think it is documented in a Redbook, but the part you called easy can
be tricky.
For tape devices you should provide LIBPORT ID and LIBRARY ID.
LIBRARY ID is defined by CE, but it can be also "composite ID" for grid
configurations. LIBPORT ID is taken from the table.
Finally you add the

Peter,
There is a USSMSG10 table source that ships in

Some hardware will not support the OS;es.
E.G. z/OS 2.3 is not supported on z9 (I doubt it would work).
z/VM is your friend. You can mimic older hardware.

It is possible, despite what you mean exactly.
It is possible to set up some LPAR on EC12 and start here any z/OS (or
other OS) currently working on z14. It is possible to start vanilla new
OS on the EC12.LPAR.
Caution: possible does not mean legal. In theory starting licensed

Excellent answer. 100% correct. 0% usable.

Another question: how to recognize processor failure?
Let's say a CPU returns false results like 2x2=5. How to recognize the
result is false?
I heard there are always two CPUs with hardware comparator. When the
bits on output are the same it is OK, othwerwise the pair is marked as
failing.
It is quite typical that new version replaces (deletes) the old one.
Usually SMP/E APPLY can be reverted by SMP/E, but ...I wouldn't rely on
that.
Even regular PTF with DELETE cannot be reverted.
What to do? make copy of CSF.** datasets.
