As long as the LPAR has access to the 2 CPs VM will. The IND command
will confirm it.

I am at a D/R site with limited resources, can anyone suggest what the SES

Thanks

Two alternatives:
If you have the tape layout, the you can restore the minidisks one by one.
I think each minidisk was separately DDRed.
If not: then you need to restore a whole VM and you use the directory you
just showed to extract the minidisks you want and DDR them from the new
packs onto min
It looks like I only need to restore OSASF 200 and 400 mdisks. I also see a
'link' error when I try to start OSADMIN1 for maint 19A not found. Anyone
know what is on MAINT 19A?

Probably the easiest thing is to do a "quick" install on some new DASD and just
pick the OSA/SF product like you mentioned in an earlier post.
Maybe call the vm support center. They may be able to tell you what tape files
correspond to the OSA/SF product.

Actually, no. I need to remove SNA.

Thomas,
Do you need to install SNA on that card?

If you've got tapes, there surely is somewhere a control file (MAINT 2CC?)
with the tape layout, and that should allow you to DDR the missing pieces.
It was surely possible in the past; this layout was -I think- also
documented in the installation document. When using DVD install things may

We are running z/VM 5.1 and are currently sending files to our customers
using a VPN connection. The security regulations do not allow our customers
to set up a VPN to our disaster recovery site.
What alternatives are there for secure file transfers that were utilizing
FTP through a VPN? Secure FT

Thanks Kris, I know the panel you are refering to. Unfortunatly it is only

I can't see any other way than to restore the whole system to a second level
machine and then copy the files to the first level VM.

The OSA support is part of z/VM. So you need to take the installation
documentation of z/VM. I don't know by heart where it is documented, but it
is. I even see a panel in my mind where you can tell which features you
want to install/reinstall.

How can I install a product from the install tapes that was missed on the
initial install? I.E. the original installer appearently didn't check the
OSA box on the install, now I need the OSA files to do some config changes,
but they haven't been loaded.
Thanks

Then you won't need it. :-) "NOGVRP" is the way it operates in z/VM 5.1.
