Colin,
If you get everything hooked to UM32029 (pre's, co's, etc.) for DFSMS/VM you
should have it (or just get the current SDO).

There are several reasons why a 3140 could be returned.
1) The device is not 'free' when RMS queries it. You already have
shown this is not the case.
2) There is a code problem in RMS. As JR indicated, apply the latest
RMS service starting with UM32029
3) 'Device not available' was returned
Is there any way to use command line options of the FTP
client command, when invoking FTP via VMFTP?
We have to do a file transfer with a particular
translation table, which can be specified as a command
option, but I don't see how to do it when the FTP is
embedded in a macro.
Thanks,
Shimon
You mean something like this:
address VMFTP
arg filetype
address COMMAND PIPE CP QUERY USERID | SPECS WORD3 | VAR NODEID
OPEN 146.125.151.1
userid
password
MODE B
TYPE E
CD xx:yy.||nodeid
PUT fn1.ft1 fn1.||filetype
PUT fn2.ft1 fn2||filetype

I would quite say arbitrary, rather I would say this is an installation
specific choice on what category to place these tapes into.

Jim,
Thanks, but I was asking about adding a command line option
to the FTP command itself, which is never invoked explicitly
when using VMFTP.
Thank you to Romney who showed me that the VMFTP command
accepts the TRAN ft option to set a translate table.
