David,
What do you mean 'the version of DDR that works with CMS Pipelines'?
We use default DDR in z/VM V6.1 now. do i need to order special version of
DDR?
or if dafault DDR in z/VM V6.1 is fine, coud you give me sample DDR
procedure or program to verify TAPE Label during DDR Pack-dump?
With the speed of z9's and z10's and the speed of DASD subsystems, is
there much of a need to use SAVEFD anymore?
I guess if a minidisk had extremely high utilization then it might.
Thoughts?
Thanks,
Steve
I want to close the console logs of several server virtual machines on a
z/VM system automatically at midnight.
Is there something on the basic system I could use

or is a server running WAKEUP or any other time controlled
Go to http://www.vm.ibm.com/download/packages/
and take RxServer (to get code to have a full-blown VMUTIL using WAKEUP)
Install VMUTIL
Then get CONCLOSE from the download lib too and issue
SF CONCLOSE EXEC to VMUTIL

VMUTIL is part of the base system, and does tasks like that. If you use it,
set it to fire a few moments before or after midnight - longstanding issue of
losing events precisely at midnight.

It's been out there for almost 2 years now. I don't know why it isn't the
default version of DDR by now. Too much other stuff to do, I guess.
coud you give me sample
Interesting. Is this related to Mantissa's z86VM project?

No, it is not related to Mantissa's work at all.

Yes, VM monitor data provides metrics to determine that. Linux itself
cannot tell why, and should not want to. In many cases it's due to CPU
contention on z/VM or
Has anyone else ever used the process for supplying DDRXA control

Typo in the above. It should have been HCPDDR701E messages omitted.

Another interesting question would be how does one go about
licensing the needed software for a z10 from M$:-)

Go to CDW and buy it online? Seems fairly simple to me. :)

It's the same as any other virtual environment. At present MS don't limit
the hardware platform used. Until recently you needed one Windows licence
for each virtual instance of Windows you ran. This has been amended recently
and the rules are now more complex. For example if I have read the rules
I guess I'm more frighten by M$ lawyers than you are:-)
