Hello listers,
in two weeks my customer (zVM / zVSE) wants to do a disaster recovery test at
his 2nd location. Therefore we will activate the cbu record and upgrade the
machine from model 2098-a01 to a z02 with 1 IFL. After the test how is the
machine downgraded to
The cbu is turned on via the HMC (I think). When you're done, you turn it off
and the machine goes back to normal state. We've done this a few times and
production VM stays up, doesn't hick-up or anything. Same thing for when we
turn it off.
That's how it works for us. YMMV

Prior to CBU deactivation, we usually vary off any processors that were turned
on by the CBU. See Chapter 4, System z, Capacity on Demand User’s Guide,
SC28-6846-02. This manual also describes reaching the expiration date without
manually deactivating.

Active Directory? No RACF..
