I would put these two areas on separate volumes, to reduce the likelihood
of an outage wiping out your complete spooling data.

the disk (making sure to back up any files on
it you will need) as inevitably at some point, you will try to write a file
and CMS will want to use a part of the minidisk that isn't really there,
and it will cause trouble.
