I'm doing a similiar thing right now on a z/VM 5.2 install. I screwed
up the RACFVM 200 and 300 mdisks and have found that there is a
RECOVER option
How can I install a product from the install tapes that was missed on the
initial install? I.E. the original installer appearently didn't check the
OSA box on the install, now I need the OSA files to do some config changes,
but they haven't been loaded.
Thanks
The OSA support is part of z/VM. So you need to take the installation
documentation of z/VM. I don't know by heart where it is documented, but it
is. I even see a panel in my mind where you can tell which features you
want to install/reinstall.

The directory entries are there, the mini disks are formatted, but there are
no files on the disks. This is a 4.3 system I am trying to recover.

They are always defined, just not loaded unless you actually select the
products.

Are you sure the OSA/SF mini disks are not really installed?
See if OSASF and OSAMAINT mini disks are present and installed

Thomas,
Do you need to install SNA on that card?

Probably the easiest thing is to do a quick install on some new DASD and just
pick the OSA/SF product like you mentioned in an earlier post.
Maybe call the vm support center. They may be able to tell you what tape files
correspond to the OSA/SF product.

Actually, no. I need to remove SNA.

If you've got tapes, there surely is somewhere a control file (MAINT 2CC?)
with the tape layout, and that should allow you to DDR the missing pieces.
It was surely possible in the past; this layout was -I think- also
documented in the installation document. When using DVD install things may

I think each minidisk was separately DDRed.
If not: then you need to restore a whole VM and you use the directory you
just showed to extract the minidisks you want and DDR them from the new
packs onto

I am at a D/R site with limited resources, can anyone suggest what the
SES command might look like?
Thanks
