I have installed ubuntu 8.10 last month. Earlier i was using 8.04.
But there is some problem with the DVD Drive after installing 8.10
If u put any DVD/CD and play. After sometime if you eject it, then
Drive will open and immediately get closed. then again you have to

Mr. Manikandan can you try a rescue mode boot , if you have the boot
CD. There is an option while booting up too.

As for me, it was pushed to my desktop as an update. I usually have the full
KDE install because i like it that way ( There is no KOffice though )

AFAIK, KDE-4.2 is not available for any released ubuntu versions
(Intrepid still has 4.1). The upcoming release(Jaunty) will have
KDE-4.2.
