I think this is a problem unique to you. I haven't seen that problem
anywhere else. You can try this for the time being:

you can just copy the fonts to the '.fonts' directory in your home directory.
Do note the '.' in front of 'fonts' in the directory name. It is a hidden
directory. You can view it by pressing 'CTRL+H' in nautilus or 'ALT+.' in
dolphin .
