I have successfully configured BSNL ZTE EVDO on Mandriva, CrunchBang (an
Ubuntu derivative), PCLinuxOS etc. It should be very easy to configure it
in Ubuntu using nm-applet; in fact I did configure the modem in the live CD
mode (ie even before a harddisk install)

.tar.gz file contains the source for the software. You need to compile the
source and then install it.

as default DNS.
The problem is more while using firefox and its clones. Try using
Opera. It loads Google service faster than firefox at times. Its a
temporary solution. The problem still persists.
