I hope they add Voice and Video support fast. If pidgin has these features
then it will become a killer app of the Linux world.

I tried pidgin 2.6.1 on my Arch linux for a few minutes . I didnt get to try
video, but I could call a contact on windows with no issues at all. The
windows person couldnt call me back though . I need someone with webcam and a
working windows installation to check this . can anyone please volun

whenever u r free call me i can assist you. What are the requirements video
chat in goole or yahoo what you prefer. I have a webcam , not been using
it since linux has no support. One of my systems is dual boot. If required i
can logon to it and install sw what you are needed.

@Ashik, Yes i did install farsight2 . I believe my issue has got to do
with pidgin not being compiled

I tested it with someone who has a windows install and the official gtalk
client. We couldnt video call each other.
for both audio and vidoe : When he rang me, and i accepted the call, he was
not notified of the acceptance. i.e) even though i had accpeted the call, it
kept ringing for h
I compiled Gtalx (Gtalk for Linux). Others in the group had issues compiling
it mainly the "libjingleinterface.la missing " error. This can be solved by
executing the make script in the main folder rather than compiling it the
old way.
I hope Gtalx and Pidgin will solve some of the problems faced b

I also tried to voice and video with pidgin. After satisfying a whole lot of
dependency packages, i some how installed it. and found the similar problem
what Yadu had. I quickly turned to the #pidgin channel on irc.freenode.net.
And queried. they asked me to check whether vv is enable
I confirm this same problem . My voice and video is not " Enabled "

New pidgin 2.6.2 is using 'libpurple' library. It's new version is not
available in Jaunty's repo. So, I think we have to wait for karmic!

you can take time and create a package for Ubuntu it will be very popular
right now :)
