It may be a Totem YouTube plugin bug that affected certain Totem
versions (2.22.?). I am not sure about this, but you can check it by
running totem from a command terminal, opening a youtube video and the
comparing the output the bug report in:

It is possible you have totem-xine, try installing totem-gstreamer

No, I have totem-gstreamer. I think what Gokul Das said is correct. I
have totem 2.22.2 and it has a bug. 2.24.3 seems to work properly.
