Does it mean to clean (erasing data) OR to remove ( delete ) the partition?

If by clearing you mean deleting then use
swapoff /dev/swap_partition
and then fdisk or parted to delete the partition and reuse it of other purpose.

One of my mate upgraded glibc from glibc-2.3.3 to glibc-2.6.1-18 on a
production server SLES 9 SP3 withou thinking any consequences. This also
required to install openssl-devel-0.9.8a-18.4 openssl-0.9.8a-18.4 as
