At grub prompt hit e on your keyboard, highlight and edit the line
that starts with kernel. and at the end append the word single
Now
boot ur system through the super user mode using the bootable Cd you can
find the info using googling. You can reset ur password for the super user
using it .
You dont need a reinstall.

You should append 1 to the end of your kernel boot line in the grub
menu. 1 is single user mode (run level 1 ) and will boot you directly
into a root shell. You can then use passwd to change your password. Then
reboot or type init 5 and you system should come fully up.
