Hello Rakesh, I didn't asked that whether there is separate /home partition or not on the HDD. Actually i suggested you to use one...:P And can you provide us your installation/up-gradation logs of the broken machine? If possible. And also tell us the hardware you are using. And do consider logs

Hi, One of my friend was using ubuntu 10.04. Today she tried to update the ubuntu (as she told me) then shut down her laptop (ubuntu not asked to restart). When after few hours she tried to turn on her laptop it couldn't be loaded showing an error message The disk drive for / is not ready yet
