what is the output of service portmap status on the CLIENT pc in your
case RH 7.3 ?
Also what is
I presume you would have started portmap service on both the server and the client
computers. If so,
please execute the rpc.mountd command on the server computer.

the problem on my pc:
redhat 8, portmapper is up, nfs is up and running
/etc/exports has the directory i wanna export
showmount -e [localhost ip] shows the above directories.
for good measure:
1 ipchains disabled
2 iptables disabled (!)
3 network-security disabled (lokkit)
4) ip6tables disabled
