I have a couple of USB Pee-Sea mice that I like to use. The left button
works like a regular MacMouse. The right button brings up contextual
menus like Control+Click. This is handy.

This sounds to me like the power button is stuck. I would take a tooth pick
and run it around the power button on the back to see if any dirt is stuck
around it.
