In order to upgrade the USB from 1.1 to 2.0 you would need to completely
disassemble the system, desolder the USB controller chip from the
motherboard, solder a new one on and if it even turns on after that it still
probably won't work because Mac OS doesn't have the drivers. I hate to tell

Yes, officially 10.4 tiger is your limit, but it is possible to run 10.5 on
the 800mhz. I don't have one, so I can only guess that you will find it to
be sluggish.
