Every one of the virus scanners I have tested with detect viruses inside of
.rar files:

Scanners detecting a virus: McAfee, F-Prot, Sophos, ClamAV, TrendMicro, AVG,
BitDefender.

I was just wondering if anyone out there has noticed a bunch of these .rar
viruses today? I've seen users get a couple of these this morning. They ar
the desktop, either. They are pretty obviously viruses with .rar
attachments
and a blank body though. Anyone have a clue why this virus is not being
stopped, or any clue as to how to stop it, other than blocking all .rar
files (not easy to do with Imail). Thanks.

Yes. With the latest interim of Declude Virus (which is required to block
all encrypted .ZIP/.RAR files), the "BANEXT EZIP" line will block all
encrypted .ZIP and all encrytped .RAR files (without blocking non-encrypted
.ZIP

I've got the usual 20K in size archives coming through the email pretty much
as of this morning, only now they're in RAR files and don't seem to be
getting snagged by Declude/McAfee. I've tried to open the file from the
message at a standalone work
