All files OO attempts to open from firefox fail with error messages much like the one mentioned in this thread. This includes .xls files, as well as OO documents that I've tried. If anybody has anything they'd like me to attempt/record/etc, I'll be more than happy to. Running b98 currently.

nano + vim is the way to go. Removing VIM would be a very bad idea, as a lot of people (myself included) cannot live without it, and it (or vi) are almost always expected to be available. Nano is a good, easy to use, editor for those new to unix. If emacs was possible, I'd say include it too.

beadm should allow you to delete the extra boot environments you're not using. Running 'beadm' by itself gives a brief summary output. 'beadm destroy name' will delete 'name' (get this from beadm list). I do suggest leaving at least one known working BE, so you've always got something to fall back
