All files OO attempts to open from firefox fail with error messages much
like the one mentioned in this thread. This includes .xls files, as well as
OO documents that I've tried. If anybody has anything they'd like me to
attempt/record/etc, I'll be more than happy to. Running b98 currently.
Ditto, tried it on three different OSOL boxes running b97. Worked like a
charm.

Hi,
I was curious if anybody here had tried OSOL on an Eee PC 1000 series. I'm
considering the 1000H, as the 10 inch model looks very appealing for my
work. Before I purchase, I wanted to check in and see if anybody else had
already dealt with the growing pains. I'm mainly concerned about
I'd highly suggest getting in touch with these folks (if you haven't

That's the go to place for linux thinkpad users, and I would hope that
they would have no problem adding OpenSolaris specific information as well.

Maybe joe + something equivalent to vim-minimal on Redhat Enterprise Linux.
If people want full functionality, then they can pull in full vim. I'm
with Andrew on the no x required bit. I've met a few people who do set up
text-only systems who hate vi/vim, and thus can barely get along in it. It
seriously
doubt that is going to happen.

nano + vim is the way to go. Removing VIM would be a very bad idea, as a lot
of people (myself included) cannot live without it, and it (or vi) are
almost always expected to be available. Nano is a good, easy to use, editor
for those new to unix. If emacs was possible, I'd say include it too.

Hi Kevin,
Good tip. I'm still at-odds with the decision to make pkg search function on
actual installed files (or at least the fact it doesn't have a flag that
allows you to search by package name), but that is how it works. My only
problem with the pkg list -a method, other than the fact I feel

I suppose I just don't see the point in arguing against doing something that
helps people, especially if it isn't a large undertaking.
There are a lot of people out there who I convince to try OSOL, and often
they come back mentioning bugs/not being able to install due to bugs that
have already
Working good for me, thanks.
One note - it says pidgin still has issues - but I was able to start it
normally without modifying the environmental variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH.

leaving at least one known working BE, so you've always got something to
fall back
Hi,
When installing OSOL 2008.5 on a server, and wanting to have the server have
single drive redundancy for the boot/root drive - so a single drive failure
would leave the system still in a bootable/functional state (and hopefully
w/ the ability to hot swap the dead drive) - how should I go
This sounds normal. It takes about that long on my quad-core/4gig of ram
machine, as well. Only seems to use one core, but pegs that cpu, so I think
it's processor limited.

Supermicro, Intel, and Tyan all offer what you need. I've used Supermicro
myself, and had no issues. Just make sure to check the HCL before jumping in
and buying something.
