It's a bad idea to have several developers within the
same sandbox since it's very easy to have them trounce
each others' changes, break the build, overwrite a
build that's being used, ... In fact, if you start

The manual would be a good start: http://www.cvshome.org/docs/manual/cvs.html

Does the user you have mapped the login to have permission to
read the directories that the repository is actually in?

I don't knwo why it tries to store temp files into /root/tmp but I'm

Either you've specified a -T global option on the server's command line
or one or more of the environment

One of our developers pointed out that
cvs commit foo bar

cvs rtag I_just_uploaded_this foo bar
contains a race condition. Someone else might have committed between the two
tags.
Assuming we want to use tags as a way of assigning blame, is there a way
round this?

No, you can't. But you can overwrite the current version and then
commit it:

Hi David,
First: if you want to assign blame, the log for any file will do - the
names of the people who uploaded are in the log (assuming your
developers have different login names in the CVS)
If you want to tag the version you have in your local directory (the one
you just uploaded) you use
You get the error because you are trying to commit to the tag 'vuelto_multimoneda
POS_Z'. If you need to modify seperately from the main trunk, you need
to specify the tag as a branch cvs tag -b 'My_Tag'.
If you trying to modify on the main trunk, don't run the second command
cvs checkout -P -r
