I have a project folder STM4.

WinCVS seems unable to checkout stuff from cvs into a directory which
already exists.
In the following example c:\development\components\live already exists on
my NT disk.
cvs checkout -P development/components/live (in directory C:\)
cvs checkout: in directory development:
cvs checkout: cannot
Using WinCVS 1.2 on NT 4 Workstation. Need to find out where it is storing
personal settings for it such as the default working folder etc. I have it
set to flat mode and C:\ and it hangs on trying to expand all of the
folders. Any ideas where these settings are stored?

You need Visual C++ 6.0 in order to build WinCvs. The VC project is located
in cvsgui/wincvs/wincvs.dsw. You cannot expect to build WinCvs with the make
command (which is not standard anyway on Windows, you'll need to install
cygwin (cygwin.org) in order to get the make command.
This isn't a cvs problem. It's you not having the program 'make' in
your path.

either for user or system, does not seem to work. Does anyone know
what will work. I would prefer to avoid changing CVSROOT/.cvsignore

module-mode) I get a query update (update -n).
If I do the same thing in the right (main) window F4 is meant to do a
query update too, but it does a update (without -n!!!) instead...

DOS vs Unix text file handling... (I try to stick with Unix newlines,
but I think WinCvs will convert them to DOS format if I invoke it
from a DOS COMMAND shell vs a Cygwin Bash shell.
Here's the command I issue on both Linux and Windows:
cvs -d :pserver:anoncvs@a260:/cvs update -d -P

build-01 on the files. But if I check out the branch then I get the correct
tag name on all the files and folders on the Wincvs window.
Is it a display problem with Wincvs, because if I do a graph selection on
any of the files then I get the complete tag name.

I'm using Wincvs 1.3.8 and OpenSSH 3.1p1 from Networksimplicity.
When I try to checkout a module, the background CMD window never
closes and WinCVS hangs. This happens on both xp pro and w2k.

I work with cvs in linux (Mandrake) and I configured cvspserver for test. Now
I'm trying to connect the repository at Linux trought wincvs at win98, but not

Thats ok. The notification on Checkout really is not required. What I am
looking for is a way to use reserved checkouts using WinCVS wherein a
folder/module can be checked out by only one person. If somebody else tries
to checkout the same, he should be getting an error/warning stating the
same
