Hi,
ok here it comes. If I do the same as I described in the last mail, but this
time I stop WinCVS and restart it, then it works. Which means, that somehow
(win)CVS is keeping the file open. But how could this be?
In fact when I do the whole thing from the command line it works out ok. It

Hi,
I did another test, to sort out the mess a little bit. This time just one
user.
First I checked out a file, modified it and checked it in. This works well
and the version is now 1.2 (up from 1.1). Next thing I do is to modify the
file again, and then check it in again. However, that does not w
The thing is that VSS is used here by some people, as is CVS on Unix(!). The
people here use VSS as a simple control to manage the file access by
multiple developers. So there is no experience with branching and merging.
According to the VSS manual branching and merging are possible. I am talkin

If you think VSS does what you want, then you might be better off with it. If your
company is

Umm.. I meant do it from within WinCVS, oh well...
Anyway. I can't repeat anything like your problem. Locking is a bit knackered in CVS
(I assume it works
on the Unix versions, but it's probably assuming you can do things like a
Hi,
since I don't have Tcl I do not have Macros in winCVS. When using cvs from
the command line I get the same error, too. IMHO it has nothing to do with
winCVS.
About bug fixing. My employer will not be very happy, especcially when with
MS-VSS there is an easy (tempting??) alternative.
Ok, here is what I get

Which version of cvs2ntslib.dll? (what comes up when you do 'Admin/Macros Admin/print
I am using wincvs with local directory and I am using the cvs2ntslib.dll. In
order to exlude any winCVS quirk I also entered the command from the command
line, with the same result.

Then the only thing that can cause that error is a cvs.exe is still running on the
other
developers' machine. Also if you're updating over a network you get locking issues

Hi,
I am trying to use CVS on NT. The repository is mounted locally, i. e. it is
not a client/server set up. Now, when developer 1 has committed a file and
developer 2 updates this file, makes some changes, and wants to commit the
file I get a very disturbing error message.
