I must migrate existing unix mailboxes (e.g. /var/spool/mail/bill)
to a cyrus imapd server. I have access to the filesystem (I'm root)
but I don't known user's passwords.
What is the right procedure? (User creation is not a problem, my problem
is moving the emails)
Thx

As others have pointed out the virus scanning is best handled by the MTA
not your imap server. This allows outgoing mail to be scanned as well which
is good when a virus such as sircam gets through (say via a web browser
email site) and starts spreading elsewhere.
For us the primary condition
I'm using a recent CVS version of cyrus-imapd-2.0.16. From a perl script,
I do an APPEND with the \seen flag specified. However, when I subsequently
view the mailbox with `mutt', the newly-appended message appears as a new
message. Am I doing this wrong, or interpreting something wrong? Here's
I use kaspersky antvirus for linuxserver. Works with sendmail, exim,
postfix and qmail.
I use it with cyrus.
I you use outlook, this is what makes you sleep at night ;)

The best two I know of are Interscan Viruswall
(http://www.trendmicro.com) and Sophos antivirus (http://www.sophos.com)
I am using Viruswall on RedHat Linux 7.1. It runs as a daemon listening
on port 25, receives mail, and scans it for viruses. Then, it can be
configured to either (1)route the
Check out www.amavis.org. It works with various linux/unix virus scanners.
I use it here in combination with postfix and it works like a charm.

let me rephrase.
i want to move existing messages that are in $HOME/nsmail without any
user intervention. i used a modified bsd2cyrus to create all the empty
subfolders on the cyrus server.
i did the drag-n-drop move for myself but there are about 80 or 90 users
that need to have there messages
I've begun my first attempt to configure Cyrus as an IMAP server and have
some trouble getting imtest to work correctly. I've followed the install
based on the README and the Install Cyrus HOW-TO and everything seems to work
up to this point.
When launching imtest -m login SERVER, I get a sim
Hello
I have a cyrus imap linux server set up serving a small office.
Is is possible to get the cyrus imap mail server to scan emails as they come
in for viruses.
I don't know of any linux email virus scanners which can scan mime and uu
encoded files.
Is anyone currently doing this, and if so, how

Simon, thanks for clarifying that. Can you see any
reason why one install of Outlook would react this way
and the other one wouldn't?
Thanks

The cert is bound to a DNS name. If from the inside you can make the box
respond to the same name as from the ouside, your problem will go away.

Hello,
I am using imaps to retrieve my mail. My IMAP server
has both a public IP address and a non-routable adress
that we use here on the local LAN. From outside the
network users at home are able to retrieve mail
without problem. However here on the LAN where we use
the non routable address to r
We run a somewhat sizeable web mail service on top of cyrus imapd (this
was just recently moved from a database-backed system). Since the web
service's users already had usernames restricted to [a-zA-Z0-9_-] we
decided not to mangle them further.
Today this bit us back, since a number of users h
