Thanks for your responses!
I tried to install cyrus from sources before. seems like this installation
had messed up something like sasl or something. I simply installed the
rpms again, and Cyrus at least runs OK.
I set up a couple accounts, but now I can't read mail from these accounts.

Any help on this password issue? We want to use Cyrus, but are completely
stumped by this problem and can't very well use it if it isn't working. :)
To recap, we can create a mailbox and set a password, but cannot log into it
using imtest or over the network with an IMAP client. The information b

Grab Cyrus v2.1.0 or the latest code from CVS.

This problem is solved now.
The partition-default variable in imapd.conf took care of this problem.
Thx.

Hy!
As someone said on this list, you can:
1. stop the cyrus master daemon (stop cyrus alltogether)
2. delete the __db.*** files
3. start the cyrus daemon again
But do verify this by scanning through the archive, before doing so :)
BTW, I think you can safely symlink the /db directories,
My disk partition assigned to /var is not very big.
One of my __db.*** files filled the disk partition, and
stopped imapd from accepting any more e-mails.
Can somebody tell me how I can change the location
of these __db.*** files?
Thanks in advance.

I tried another route to check the password issue, and this has confused me
even more. I can log into my Cyrus account using cyradm, but not imtest or
in a client. Am I doing something wrong here? The reason I ask is that I
also cannot login from an email client, but I can log in using cyradm. To

Is Cyrus running? check it via netstat -a. Does someone listen on port
143?

Hi!
I installed cyrus with postfix to a RH 7.1 machine from .rpms.
When i try to connect to cyrus with cyradm or telnet to port 143, nothing
happens.
Cyrus does not respond at all. I think i've configured things like they
should be. I'm running Cyrus as master, and it is in a list of processe
Okay, I feel like I almost have this working. I am now using
cyrus-imapd-2.0.16_1. I now only have two issues. I will address the first
in this email.
I can't get my passwords to work:
mail# cyradm -u mailadmin mail

I would like user names to be in the form of [EMAIL PROTECTED], but I
found that cyradm rejects the '.'. Instead, I am using
dpuryear~hostname~tld. Is this just plain impossible?
