Hi, I am trying to setup cyrus imapd version 2.1.15. I also installed the cyrus sasl 2.1.15 library. I followed the instructions at http://www.faqs.org/docs/Linux-HOWTO/Cyrus-IMAP.html, but is is fairly outdated. I currently have user authentication working with LDAP for services like samba, ss

Hi all. I've got a user who has managed to re-upload a lot of duplicate
messages into a number of his IMAP folders. I'd like to help him get
rid of them, if possible. Is there a way to prune duplicate messages
from existing mail folders, rather than at lmtp delivery? I'm using

We had the same problem, and I found in the log file that the ctl_deliver
no not work : db problem...
It seem that the db file was incorrect.
So I decide to rename it and restart cyrus. The risk was only to deliver
duplicate mail so

Thanks for your reply. We do that now to let users know they are over

don't even want them to be queued on the system, just bounce back to the

Is it normal that tls_sessions.db, deliver.db and db-directories seem to
get quite large. At the moment tls_sessions.db is about 50kB, deliver.db
is about 174MB and db and db.backup directories are about 1.3G each.

Is this the config option to stop emails from being delivered if they are
over quota?
We have it set to:
lmtp_overquota_perm_failure: yes
I thought I read another post regarding that it does just this.
The system does return a over quota message to the sender but the messages
still get through.
I am considering to add mysql support as a backend of mboxlist DB.
I have used skiplist and Berkeley DB so far.
All of them have a serious contention problem.
But, I want to know if it is a valuable work .
Thanks in advance.

Jason,
We use Cyrus 2.1.x on FreeBSD 4-STABLE platform. I use sendmail on the
front-end and use amavisd-new and PureMessage milters with that as well. It
all works quite well.
What I would recommend is downloading Cyrus 2.1.15 (the most current
_stable_ [non-devel anyway] version) and Cyrus SA

Hi there!
I though I knew how to install and configure Cyrus 2.1, but it looks
like I do not... I am using debian GNU/Linux (testing)
I installed the packages cyrus21-imapd cyrus21-pop3d and cyrus21-admin.
When I try to connect the server I get:
postman:/var/spool# telnet postman imap
