Paul, I recently took a look at useing thunderbird 1.0 with IMAP and found
that it was storing a lot of info locally, is it really that good an IMAP
client?

Installing the package from sun freeware did the trick, along with changing
a couple symbolic links.

Did you disable the non encrypted services? cyradm just plain, no SSL/TLS.

Have you checked the logs? Maybe you are attempting to authenticate
using plaintext password over unencrypted channel?

I can't seem to get IMSP to compile on Fedora Core 2. I run configure

connect from my PC with Outlook it says it can find the server. However the
